Moms that work from home are in the constant balance process. You are typically needed in about 100 places at the same time. Some days I really wish I could clone myself but that does not happen… but we can dream still.
So here a 3 Simple Time Management Tips to do more with the time you already have…
1. Plan on working before the kids get up or after the kids are asleep for 1-2 hours.
As long as you get your zzz’s in too – you would be surprised of all the things you can accomplish without constant interruptions.
I am morning person and typically get in 2 hours of highly productive work in before my son get up. Now – these are task that don’t require working with others such as writing articles, accounting, email follow-up and ect. But thing about how many things you need to do that you really don’t need to do in the middle of the day while the kids are running around.
Same thing at night – but limit yourself on how late you are staying up and getting enough rest before the kids are up and going.
2. Listen to books or podcast while in the car.
Let me guess, as moms that work from home – you too are trying to make sure you are on top of currently business changes and developments. But you still have errands to run, kids to taxi around and husbands that seem to forget things that you end up hopping in the car to do. Things do change and the car is the perfect place to listen – heck the kids may start picking up some entrepreneurial qualities while you are at it.
Many titles of books in most industries are now available as iTunes downloads… and be sure to check out the great series of podcast also available from iTunes and other sites. No one says you have to read the book to gain the information.
3. Turn off the TV.
Ok – next to the computer – you can get so lost in TV. If you are trying to do it all – you just have to limit the amount of TV that you watch. I now record 2 shows per week and watch about 10 minutes of news every day.
Do you know how much time you are spending? Think back this week…
Was that time you could have been spending time with the kids or spouse? Getting some stuff done around the house that you have to do anyway? Following up with clients in a different time zone?
We Understand…
I know that is tough for moms that work from home to manage it all. All of us here at Good Day Mompreneur understand that. We each do it every day ourselves. Take a deep breath and know that you can do it too!
